Tan Sze Wei at the EB Meeting 2008 (Geneva)PSI’s Executive Board (EB) hold it yearly meeting in Geneva from 28-30 May 2008. It was the first since the 100-year Congress in Vienna in September 2007, the first under the new Secretary General Peter Waldorff and the first under the new composition of EB members with the young workers representative of each region.

Sister Chidi King, Equality and Rights Officer, reported that the young workers representative (YWRs) participated well at the EB. Sister Tan Sze Wei was elected by her fellow YWRs to do the presentation regarding RESOLUTION NO. 20“Succession Planning Through Intensified and Meaningful Involvement of Young Workers” , urging the EB to accept the recommendation on its adoption. The EB unanimously agreed to accept the recommendation on resolution 20, so text will be amended to reflect the proposals in the recommendation. In particular it was agreed to organize an international forum for young workers in advance of the 2010 QPS conference.

For next year, Sister Chidi is planning to spend a half day before the EB Meeting with the YWR’s to go through the document for the EB with them, identify issues on which they may want to intervene, and therefore they can contribute to any issue under discussion at the meeting (not just issues regarding young workers).
